Polycera alabe Collier & Farmer, 1964

There are four color forms.

In the Channel Islands, Isla Cedros and the Gulf of California Polycera alabe is black with oval yellow-orange spots.Gills and rhinophores are black, with yellow spots.

From Costa Rica, Panama and the Galapagos the colour variation Polycera alabe have thick orange lines running lengthwise, and the body processes are green.The pink Gills are black tipped.

This variation with orange spots, green papillae and gills and rhinophores with orange lines can be found along the Mexican Pacific,Costa Rica and Panama.

The variation with a brownish body (not black), orange lines and spots can be found the farthest south. The pappilae are translucent. Gills and rhinophores are the same color as the body and tipped with black.

Polycera alabe feeds on bryozoans (moss animals).

Similar to Polycera atra.
