Info

Calcinus vanniniii Gherardi & McLaughlin, 1994

Calcinus vanninii is a rather rarely found species in the sea, the hermit is so far only known from the waters around the Mascarenes.Especially striking are the red legs of the crayfish, the length of its eyestalks is variable.

Similar species: Calcinus gaimardii (H. Milne Edwards, 1848).

Etymology: The species name "vanninii" honors Prof. Dr. Marco Vannini, who was the first to collect this hermit species.
