Info

(Fowler, 1934)

Very special thanks for the permission to use his photo of Bodianus trilineatus go to Dennis R. King!
The photo of this beautiful wrasse was taken in November 2000.

According to fishbase, the fish lives in a depth from 73 up to 200 meters, however Rudie H. Kuiter noted a depth of about 35 meters in his book "Labridae Fishes: Wrasses", published in 2012.

One interessting fact: with exception of Taiwan, all countries of origin are located in the Western Indian Ocean, from South Africa up to
Yemen.

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
