Info

Heymer & Zander, 1992

Length: 8 - 10 cm.

Colouration
Head yellow. Body bright grey with fine red-brown points in longitudinal rows. Similar to G. fallax. Dark spot at the upper end of the base of the pectoral fin. Night colouration: large dark and light spots on body, head partly yellow.

Food
Carnivorous; small invertebrates, mysids.

Reproduction
No informations.

Habitat
5 - 35 m. Rocky shores. Common in southern France, otherwise rare.

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
