Scorpaenodes caribbaeus, also known as Reef-Scorpionfish, is mainly found in western Atlantik. Distributed from Florida to the Bahamas, south to the West Indies and the Caribbean islands and along the east coast of Central America to the northern coast of South America at depths of up to a maximum of 28 meters.

Hiding in reef crevices and caves here mostly in the upper parts of cave ceilings. Its diet consists mainly of small crustaceans such as (still mostly juvenile) prawns and crabs, however, he scorned not, smaller fish and fish eggs.
