Info

The worm snail Thylacodes adamsii (Mörch, 1859) (Littorinimorpha: Vermetidae) is a sessile snail that mainly inhabits rocky coasts along the warm temperate to tropical oceans.

Thylacodes adamsii shoots out chemically enriched mucus nets to catch nutrients and has no operculum

Also in Thylacodes adamsii the operculum is missing, the species has undergone a parallel evolution of the non-operculate marine worm snail genera Thylacodes, so it also lacks an operculum (trapdoor) that closes the tube.

Around Maizuru, Japan, the worm snails occur in high densities on oyster shells in the subtidal zone.

The type locality Borneo mentioned in the first description was later changed to Japan.
