Thank you for the photo of the paratype of Leptogorgia aequatorialis sent to us by Dr. Odalisca Breedy, the specialist for Eastern Pacific horn corals.
Leptogorgia aequatorialis is known from the waters around Ecuador, the Encyclopedia of Life gives Aruba, near Venezuela, as another locality.

Photos of the species are rare.

The species was first described on the basis of fragments, so no size information can currently be found.

Similar species: Leptogorgia martirensis Hernández, Gómez-Gutiérrez & Sánchez, 2021
