Häufig unter Steinen in flachem Wasser. Das Innere besteht aus Perlmutt, Operculum-Kuppeln und kalkhaltigen Muscheln aus dem NWHI, die lose aufgewickelt werden können und bis zu 4 Zoll groß sind. Endemisch auf Hawaiii. Verwandt mit dem indo-westpazifischen Turbo-Argyrostomus, der auch auf dem Midway Atoll vorkommt.

Die am Fuß dieser lebenden Hawaiianischen Turbanschnecke sichtbare weiße Scheibe löst sich beim Tod der Schnecke ab und wird als so genannte Katzenaugen an den Strand gespült
