Info

(Herdman, 1880)

Phallusia obesa is one of the larger sea squirts, as can be inferred from its species name “obesa,” which means “fat-bodied” or “pot-bellied.”

The sea squirt comes in different color morphs ranging from yellow, gray, cream, white to green and feeds on plankton, which it filters. Phallusia obesa is considered a fairly common species that settles not only in reefs but also on pylons, support pillars, and shipwrecks.
