Bornella pele Pola, Rudman & Gosliner, 2009

Bornella pele has an elongate shape typical of species of Bornella. The body colour is translucent white with scattered opaque white spotes. Red marks are on the rhinophores and on each dorsolateral process.

Bornella pele is a rare species. If disturbed, its able to swim by flexing the body. They feed on hydroids.

This species is named after the Hawaiian goddess “Pele”, goddess of fire, lightning and volcanoes and refers to the red patches.
