Info

Krefft, 1869

Turtle-headed seasnake occurs in association with coral and rocky areas and over sand, generally found in shallow water less than 15 m depth, the snake has been seen at a maximum of 40 meters in the Philippines.

This snake is dietary specialist, it feeds exclusively on fish eggs and seems to prefer eggs that are laid in nests attached to corals and rocks by species such as damselfish, blennies and gobies.
