The honeyhead damselfish is a resident of lagoons and nearshore reefs with sandy bottoms.
After courtship and mating, the male takes over brood care.
When keeping in an aquarium, ensure adequate swimming space, sufficient algae stands and a sandy substrate with coral rubble.
The perch also accepts clay pots as shelter.
