Very special thanks for the two first photos to George Keoki" Stender from Hawaiii.
Despite of a relative large dissemination area, the zooxanthellate Pavona explanulata is not a common coral.
It lives usually in water depths up to 40 meters in subtidial, steep reefs with clear, flat, or even turbulent water.
Colors: grey, brown, pink, purple, green or yellow, sometimes spotted.
So far we have not yet seen regular offers for this coral in the sea water trade, eventhough cuttings are possible by fragmentation.
