Apletodon wirtzi Fricke, 2007
This clingfish, named after Peter Wirtz, has been discovered on one of his expeditions and described in 2007. It stays quite small (1.4 cm) and occurs in shallow depths.
Little is known about aquarium husbandry of this animal but like other clingfishes it should eat copepods and other small crustaceans. Other clingfish species have even been reported to eat frozen foods.
Clingfish attach themselves to surfaces by means of their transformed ventral fins, swim little and stay small - all of which makes them ideal animals for nano tanks.
