Apolemichthys xanthopunctatus also known as the Golden-spangled Angelfish is found only in the Line and eastern Caroline islands (central-western Pacific). These species is so rarely kept in the Hobby that we don't know any about maintenance, social behaviors, natural foods or sexual differences etc. .

Remarks:
Most large angelfish are well known for nipping at large-polyped stony corals and some soft corals as well as tridacnid clam mantles.

Die Tiere kommen recht häufig gesund aussehend in den Handel, haben aber oft eine Infektion mit monogenen Hautwürmern ("flukes"). Man sollte sie deshalb entweder im Rahmen der Quarantäne vorsorglich mit Praziquantel (Sera Tremazol, JBL Gyrodol etc.) behandeln oder zumindest vor der Eingewöhnung ins Becken ein ca. zehnminütiges diagnostisches Süßwasserbad vornehmen, bei dem ein Großteil der eventuell vorhandenen Hautwürmer abfällt. Damit wird eine Infektion erkennbar und man kann entsprechend handeln.

Unbehandelt können die doch recht teuren und seltenen Tiere sonst innerhalb von Tagen/Wochen eingehen, weil sie sich immer mehr verstecken und auch das Fressen einstellen.

Andere Symptome einer weit fortgeschrittenen Infektion mit monogenen Hautwürmern sind Schütteln, ausgefranste Flossen und eine Trübung der Augen durch anhaftende Würmer und die Reaktion des Körpers darauf. Bei genauerer Betrachtung kann man manchmal auch die Hautwürmer selbst erkennen, die wie kleine (semi-)transparente Strudelwürmer aussehen.

Die Aufnahme stammt aus dem 6000 l Schaubecken von " Böttcher " in Pullheim sinnerdorf. In diesem Becken sind auch großpolypige Steinkorallen die bisher in Ruhe gelassen werden.
Lt H Böttcher hat der Fisch auch seinen Preis!!! Er wird nur auf Bestellung besorgt. Es müssen mit mehreren hundert Euro gerechnet werden !!!
