Paracirrhites arcatus (Cuvier, 1829)

The Ring-eyed Hawkfish has a horseshoe-shaped mark behind the eye that consists of three thin lines. There are three orange bands on a light blue area on the operculum. A white to pink stripe is often present along the lateral line on the rear of the fish.

Ich habe den Kardinalfehler begangen: Mir diesen "Bad Guy" im Fachhandel aufquatschen lassen. Er ist wirklich interessant, aber er hat meine Garnelenpopulation halbiert und noch schlimmer: ohne Pause meine friedlichen Maidengrundeln angegriffen bis diese aus dem Becken gesprungen sind. Habe bislang erfolglos versucht den Korallenwächter zufangen. Er ist blitzschnell. Muss wohl warten bis er an Altersschwäche stirbt oder das Becken ausräumen....

Sehr schöner Fisch! Das stimmt! Leider hab ich mich beim Kauf auf den Händler verlassen der mir versicherte, dass ich ihn mit meinen C. viridis in einem Becken ohne Probleme halten könnte. Naja, letztendlich hatte er alle bis auf einen erlegt oder zum Sprung aus dem Becken gebracht. Eines morgens fand ich dann auch noch beide tot nebeneinander liegen...war mir eine Lehre! Ansonsten ist er wirklich toll zu beobachten!

Ein sehr interessanter Fisch, der fast jedes Futter nimmt. Am liebsten mag er scheinbar Garnelen, auch die, die nicht führ ihn bestimmt sind. So zB hat er in meinem Becken die gesamte Garnelenpopulation beseitigt und das waren nicht wenige...
