Info

Opsanus pardus is a somewhat bizarre-looking, but for humans completely harmless demersal fish with a light brown to yellowish base coloration, which means that the predator is not quickly noticed by unwary prey.

The head, body and fins have pupil-sized brown spots, which are arranged in diagonal rows on the dorsal and anal fins,
The body is speckled and shows bars on the dorsal, anal and caudal fins, which are irregular and rarely complete.
The pectoral fins are speckled, the inside of the mouth is not pigmented.

Synonym: Batrachus tau pardus Goode & Bean, 1880 - unaccepted
