Cataphellia brodricii (Gosse, 1859)
An sea-anemone with a small oral disc containing about 100 short to medium-sized tentacles. The color of the disc and tentacles is pale gray with inserted fine yellow lines, the rest of the pattern is purplish-brown and white. There is no deviation from the usual pattern. The base is wide and often exceeds the span of the tentacles.
Habitat: Occurs in the lower shore or shallow sublittoral kelp zone, on bedrock, boulders or stones, often in strong tidal currents and sand-washed habitats. Often found attached to rocks under a shallow layer of sand with only the disk and tentacles protruding - well camouflaged and difficult to find; closes very quickly in the event of malfunctions.
