Leuconopsis obsoleta (F. W. Hutton, 1878)
A tiny snail in the family Ellobiidae, commonly known as coastal snails. Members of the family are small air-breathing snails on land that live amphibious or semi-marine lives. They breathe through the lung-like mantle cavity. Ellobiidae are distributed worldwide.
Leuconopsis obsoleta is only 3mm tall and is endemic to New Zealand. It can be found under rocks in the intertidal zone and under rotting seaweed. The small coastal snail feeds on algae, zoobenthos and detritus.
