Photos of Anthothela vickersi , taken shortly after specimens were collected from the Tasmanian seamounts, suggest that the color living coral is a light creamy pink.

Etymology: the epithon "vickersi" was named in honor of Lieutenant Vickers of the H.M.C.S. Iris, Lt. Viekers, who recovered the coral from a depth of 517 fathoms (~ 945 meters depth) north of the
Doubtless Bay, northern island of New Zealand.
