Info

Ranella australasia (G. Perry, 1811)

Ranella australasia has a brown shell with a high tip, low ridges around the whorls and a relatively wide opening. In some colonies, albinistic specimens are even quite common.

The relatively large individuals are seen less often on the south coast than those on the reefs of New South Wales, but they do grow larger. Occasionally, specimens are trawled from the edge of the continental shelf.

Ranella australasia is a predatory snail.
