Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Callogorgia verticillata are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Callogorgia verticillata, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Callogorgia verticillata, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

Callogorgia verticillata is a deep-water gorgonian often associated with the crustose anemone Isozoanthus primnoidus and Tritonia callogorgiae.
The coral is dependent on catching small zooplankton, as it has not formed a symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae.
