Hemithiris psittacea (Gmelin, 1791)

The brachiopods are commonly known as Lamp shells.Lamp shells has a dorsal and ventral shell.Their feeding organ are the ciliated lophophores.

Hemithiris psittacea has a cold-water circum-polar distribution; found in the North Sea around the Shetlands and Orkneys.The colour varies from dark bluish to a variety of shades of grey and brown.
