Etwas heikel in der Eingewöhnung nach dem Import. Wie Robert bereits bemerkte sind die Strömungsverhältnisse ausschlaggebend für ein zügiges Öffnen dieser schönen Hornkoralle. Sollte bei gutem Wachstum problemlos zu fragmentieren sein.

Wie andere karibische Hornkorallen ist auch diese Art sehr empfänglich für die Aspergillose (einem Pilzbefall der sich in einem schleimigen Ablösen des Gewebes äußert).

Dass heisst: Den Schleim an den betroffenen Stellen zunächst mit einem dünneren Schlauch gründlich absaugen um die Gefahr einer Parasitenverbreitung im Wasser zu mindern, danach den befallenen Ast möglichst großzügig abscheiden und entsorgen. PVP Iodbäder könnten auch helfen, doch meist wirkt diese Behandlung nur bei geringem Fortschritt der Krankheit, ist aber möglicherweise nach der geschilderten "Amputationsbehandlung" ratsam (Kurzbad mit 1 mL Betaisodona auf 1 Liter Meerwasser für 5 min.).

Futter: wie auch bei Plexaura-Arten nimmt diese Art auch feinpartikuläre Nahrung auf: Cyclop Eeze, Lobstereier, Frostcopepoden, Ultramin F. (Fauna Marin).
